Only electric motors are allowed on Shenipsit Lake. Connecticut law requires that all boats with motors, regardless of size, be registered with the CT Department of Motor Vehicles before launching.

A CT Safe Boaters Certificate is required for all boaters operating a boat with a motor, regardless of type and size. There are no exceptions for boaters on Shenipsit Lake. You do not need a CT Safe Boaters Certificate if your boat does not have a motor.
