Connecticut Water hosts open house at Rockville Drinking Water Treatment Facility
VERNON, Conn., Aug. 24, 2026 — Thank you to the nearly 100 people who came out to our recent open house at the Rockville Drinking Water Treatment Facility. The open house provided a great opportunity for customers to learn more about where their drinking water comes from.
Visitors toured the facility and met with members of our team to see firsthand how water is filtered, treated, tested, and delivered to homes and businesses throughout the region.
“We appreciate everyone who joined us to learn more about the important work that goes into providing high-quality, reliable drinking water every day,” Connecticut Water President Craig J. Patla said. “Events like this give us a valuable opportunity to connect with our customers and share the care, expertise, and dedication that our local water professionals bring to protecting public health and serving our communities.”
The Rockville Drinking Water Treatment Facility is the largest single source of drinking water for Connecticut Water customers in Northern Connecticut, providing the majority of the drinking water to more than 85,000 people in Ellington, South Windsor, Mansfield, Tolland, and Vernon.
The facility, capable of producing 9 million gallons of drinking water each day, treats water from the nearby Shenipsit Lake Reservoir, which has been a major source of drinking water for the community for more than 100 years. The company owns more than 785 acres of land around the reservoir to protect water quality and also offers year-round hiking trails to the public in partnership with the Connecticut Forest and Park Association.
